Below I will put some basic sparrow info, my criteria for a good sparrow photo spot, tips on how to approach the sparrows, and details about my favorite locations, including links to maps and photos.
I ended up using the wonderful searchable online BOTW object map ( ) and checking out dozens of sparrow spawn points myself. Most sparrow-spawn discussions that I found online were too vague to be helpful or had incorrect info (like, statements that all sparrows spawn randomly, which turns out to not be true). So, I spent the last several days trying to find good spots where I could quickly and reliably find all six species, and where, if they flew, I could quickly get them to re-spawn. (The only comparably difficult bird photos, imho, are the Islander Hawk and the Seagull, both of which are constantly in flight.) The sparrows are skittish - not more skittish than other animals actually, but they're so small that you have to get VERY close to get a good photo, and then chances become high that you will spook at least one of them and they will all fly away. I love that Nintendo bothered to include not one but six (!) separate species of sparrows - that's the level of attention to detail that we all love about this game, right? But the six sparrows turned out to be among the toughest birds to get good photos of. As someone who studies sparrows in real life (see username) of course I wanted good closeup photos of the sparrows. Golden Sparrow - Rabia Plain (just NE of Kakariko) at the very southern edge of the plain up on a hummock of rock.īefore TOTK I thought I would finally finish my compendium photos, which has been a lot of fun and has added a whole different element to how I view the game. Sand Sparrow - Has no fixed spawn locations, but there are usually a couple around the outer walls of Gerudo Town. Rainbow Sparrow - Floria Bridge, on the end close to Lakeside Stable. Red Sparrow - On the ice shelf on top of Coldsnap Hollow in Hebra or on Satori Mountain in the apple orchard if the Lord of the Mountain spawns before 9pm.īlue Sparrow - Zora's Domain just past the central fountain, on start of the walkway that heads to the Great Zora Bridge or on Satori Mountain in the stalnox spot if the Lord of the Mountain spawns before 9pm. Tl dr - Here are some reliable (fixed spawn location), relatively easy-access, spots for sparrow compendium photos (7am-9pm, no rain). There's subreddits for that and this isn't one.
